What is a CSA?

A CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) is an excellent opportunity for grower and consumer a like. By Purchasing a share in our farm you ensure that you and your family receive the highest quality of food in a weekly box from our farm.

Why Join a CSA?

CSA is one of the best ways to support small family farms and local agriculture. You get the best of the farm and knowledge of the growing practices used on your food. The farmers are able to grow with a minium of waste and continue providing you with the best products. For many farmers the vast majority of their expenses is at the beginning of the year. For small scale farmers if the year is bad or cash crops haven't come through they are out the money and for many it leads to financial ruin and eventually loosing the farm. By supporting a farm through CSA you take some of the risk. But know that you will get all the best the farm has to offer and that you are making sure small farms continue to grow and produce for our community.

How long is the season?

Our full season begins the end of June and runt to the early part of October for 16 weeks. This is a full time share. A part-time share is full boxes delivered every other week. Peak season runs from mid-July through mid-September for 8 weeks.

What will we get in the boxes?

Each week we provide you with a box of only the freshest, in season produce. You will receive at least 3/4 bushels of vegetables and fruit. We try to vary the offerings weekly and include items you are familiar with as well as interesting and exciting heirloom varieties. Boxes vary by season and may include--

Early season--radishes, sweet peas, spring onions, lettuce, Asian greens, herbs, spring carrots, beets, turnips and more.

Mid season--green beans, zucchini, green peppers, tomatoes, eggplant, cucumbers, melons, strawberries, corn and more

Late season--squash, cabbage, storage onions, fall greens, beets, turnips and more.

Boxes tend to be fuller and more heavy in the late summer and fall. Note: the above list are examples of what we grow in a typical year and not guarantees. This is farming.

Our good friends Shane and Chiara Dowell run a CSA in Minnesota. They describe the CSA process--

I cannot tell you how important it is that we continue to vote with our food dollars. In this day and age it is not enough to hold fast to ideals. . .we have to live them. One way to make huge efforts towards change for the better is to vote with your food dollars. Remember that when you buy a share in a farm you are getting more out of it than a simple exchange of veggies. You are supporting a way of life for a particulare family wshich enriches them as spouses, children and citizens. You are ensuring your own health, and taking an active role in promoting sustainable stewardship of land and resources. . .but most importantly, you are opening yourself up to a more beautiful relationship with the land, and with your fellow human beings that cultivate it. Keep it up! Keep it Up! Keep participating in the beautiful art of growing things in this good green Earth.

We are taking a SABBATICAL from our CSA for the 2017 growing season. Thank you for your support. We will be focusing on other areas of our business during this time. .
